We acknowledge that the Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede is located on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, and Dakota Nations, and the homeland of the Metis Nation, and that we gather on Treaty 1 land. We are grateful for their stewardship of this land and their hospitality, which allows us to live, work, and serve God the Creator here.
Buddy Assistance Needed
Many thanks to all those who serve as buddies for our church, especially to coordinator Bev Jurens.
Please consider joining this volunteer communications team.
Essentially, when an important item needs awareness, Pastor Murray notifies the coordinator, who then informs the buddies.  It is not a time-heavy task!  If you are able to help out, please speak with Bev or call her at

Continue Prayers for Shoal Lake 40 Freedom Road
Churches for Freedom Road has provided an encouraging update about progress in making Shoal Lake 40's Freedom Road a reality.  Construction is expected to begin this winter under a three-way funding agreement between the Province of Manitoba, City of Winnipeg and federal government.  Click link below for details from a recent CBC news story:

We've Got Hope Now: Deal reached to build Shoal Lake 40's Freedom Road

In the meantime, residents of Shoal Lake and the surrounding area could still use our prayers:
  • Pray for Chief Redsky in this time when wise leadership will be more critical than ever.
  • Pray for the safety of residents living on-island, who still need to navigate dangerous ice conditions during the spring and fall until the road is fully completed.
  • Pray that construction will move forward expediently and efficiently
  • Pray for the ongoing creation of jobs and economic opportunities for First Nations peoples in the Kenora area.

Request a Hymn
Do you have a favorite hymn? There is a suggestion box at the back of the church for you to make your requests. Hymns are an integral part of our worship and are chosen each week to reflect the message and theme for each service. But we will try our best to incorporate your requests when they are appropriate. Sing to the Lord with joy!

Are you on PAR?
At the Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede we offer an easy and convenient way to make your offerings on a regular schedule. By enrolling in PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance) or leaving post-dated cheques with the office, you ensure that your church can continue to pay its bills year-round, even during vacations, holidays, and other times when Sunday morning attendance and the number of collection envelopes are lower. Please consider enrolling in PAR  to cover times when you may be away.
